The Wool Sanctuary_HighRes-02

A long time ago I got chicken pox. It was the best thing that ever happened to me because this was when my mum taught me to knit.

I spent my childhood knitting with my mum, my friends laughed at me and I spent many a night in the pub as a young adult, thinking I could be at home knitting. And now here I am, an engineer by day and by night and at weekends a knitter.

The Wool Sanctuary is my knitting business that grew from a knitting club I started in Bristol. When I moved to Weston Super Mare I moved the club with me and with my stock of Rowan and Debbie Bliss yarn The Wool Sanctuary was born.

In 2009 I was lucky to be featured on Kirstie's Homemade Home, teaching Kirstie Allsopp to knit, what followed was over 2,000 emails from current knitters, ex knitters, wanting to be knitters telling me their knitting stories and/or wish to learn to knit. Some of these ladies are now my friends and travel from Bristol, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Monmouthshire, London, Midlands etc. to come and knit at The Wool Sanctuary.

Today I design hand knit patterns for all skill levels. I teach knitting workshops, I have a knitting club and a home full of lovely yarn that I sell.
