My book JANET SMITH CAN'T KNIT will be available to purchase from The Wool Sanctuary from Wednesday 1st August. If you would like to call in on The Wool Sanctuary to purchase a book then please e-mail me on firstname.lastname@example.org. It will be available on line early next week.
If all goes well, I will be doing some book signings around the country. Keep an eye on my Book page for news of signing and or book selling destinations I will be doing. I am going to try to visit every county. If you would like me to come to your county then please let me know.
Not long to go now until my first book is published. It is called 'Janet Smith Can't Knit' named after my sister who can't knit. I have named an alien after her in the book who can't knit. If you would like a copy of my book them please see the home page of my website.
The publishers came to see me on Friday, it is full steam ahead with my book. I have to have all my designs (20 in all) knitted for October 2011. Taking into account holidays, I worked it out as one design a week, that is designed AND knitted, it is going to be tight but I am confident I can do it, I have so many designs going round in my head just need to get them out of my head and turn them into reality, it is so exciting.
The Wool Sanctuary knit club holiday, I am delighted to say, will be at Meadowgate, the house where Kirstie Allsopp filmed 'Kirstie's Homemade Home'. There will be 28 of us going. 14 will stay for the first three nights then another 14 for the remaining three nights. I will be staying for the whole week to keep you all in order. There are three places still available if you are interested in coming along. Please contact me.
June sees the beginning of evening Knit Club meetings due to popular demand. They will run on two Thursday nights a month from 6-9pm. If you are interested in attending any of these meetings either the Saturdays or Thursday evenings and you are not already on the mailing list then please contact me by e-mail at email@example.com or call me on 07812 365017.
I can't believe it is February already. Ok, here is the news. I still have places left for Knit School ona Monday night. If you would like to learn a knitting technique in a small group on a Monday night then Knit School is for you. I have places left on most classes so please either book on line or give me a call or drop me an e-mail to chat about your knitting needs. It would be lovely to meet you.
The Finishing Off workshop is taking place on the 6th February, the workshop is full but I will be running it again later in the year, please check my Workshop page for more detail. My beach hut Draught Excluder is nearly ready to be unleashed on the knitting public. I am getting a bit addicted to knitting them, there are five in the final design, and you can either purchase the whole thing in a kit or the huts individually as they can be used as door stops on their own, or just cuddly beach huts, everyone should have one. I will be at Monkton Elm Garden Centre on the 27th February demonstrating how to make my lavender bag. I think there might be places still available so please come along if you wish. Ok just off for a cup of tea and a tunnocks tea cake. Don't forget to look out for the Beach Hut Draught Excluder.
Happy New Year to you all.
Workshops- The 2010 workshops are now listed on the Workshop page, believe it or not. I hope there is something in there for everyone. Each workshop is never the same anyway. Please take some time to have a look at the timetable and if you have any questions about any of the workshops then please let me know.
Knit Club- Knit Club is going to be one Saturday of every month this year, if the first one is anything to go by then I am going to be very busy at these meetings, it is a great opportunity for knitters to meet up and share with others what they are knitting. I am always looking for new members so if you would like to come along then please e-mail me and I will add you onto the Knit Club mailing list. My ladies are very welcoming, please come and find out for yourself.
Knit School- The Knit Club Winter term starts in February, I still have places left on most of the classes so if you would like to learn a technique and cannot spare a day but 2 hours on a Monday night then please do get in touch. I love teaching Knit School, it is something to look forward to after work.
Vouchers are now available for The Wool Sanctuary. They can be up to the value that you require. So for example you could have a two hour tuition voucher or a workshop voucher. Please contact me and we can discuss your requirements. These have already been given as birthday presents, why not use them as Christmas presents too. Please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
I can't believe it is November already. November sees the start of the Christmas craft fairs. I will be at the Paintworks on the 7th November for the MISI fair. On the 20th-22nd November I will be at Cowslip, one definitely not to be missed. On Friday 5th December I will be at Emerson's Green junior school (evening only). I am hoping to get to more craft fairs next year, I really do enjoy them. The Knit Club Christmas party is on Saturday 12th December. Knit Club will be in the morning from 10-1pm followed by a Christmas meal (venue to be decided). If you would like to come along, even if you have not been to Knit club before you are very welcome. Hope to see you in December.
At last there are some new kits on my website. I have only recently had chance to sit down and put some of my designs together. I hope you like them. My Ray of Light scarf, pictured below, is available in a number of colour combinations. There are so many to chose from. My favourite is the one pictured above.
Knit School is filling up fast, if you would like to book any of the classes then please let me know as soon as possible. I am currently designing a pattern for the Kirstie's Homemade Home book. I think it will be coming out early 2010.
New workshops will be listed on the workshops page in the next week. Included in the list will be a workshop for making your own draught excluder and house. For more information e-mail me on email@example.com.
Kirstie's Homemade Home starts on the 16th April. The Wool Sanctuary will be featured in Episode 3 on the 30th April.
Kirstie's Homemade Home will be starting in the middle of April, exact date to be confirmed. The Wool Sanctuary will be featured in the second programme on the living room, I think. I have nearly finished the draught excluder.
Something really nice happened too. I was asked to knit a sign that resulted in me knitting the titles too they will be seen every week, this is like a dream- don't want to wake-up. More pictures on here once the show has aired.
What a crazy week. Channel 4 have been here filming for a new programme that will be coming out in March.
Knitting school is filling up nicely, there are still places available so please call me as soon as possible if would like a place.
